▶What do DWPD tiers mean?
DWPD (Drive Writes Per Day) measures how many times a drive's full capacity can be written per day over its rated warranty period.
Read-Intensive (RI) · ~1 DWPD: Optimised for read-heavy workloads — boot, logging, analytics. Lowest cost per TB. Examples: Samsung PM893, Solidigm D7-P5520, Micron 5400 PRO.
Mixed-Use (MU) · 3 DWPD: Balanced read/write for databases, VMs, and transactional workloads. Examples: Micron 5400 MAX, Samsung PM1735, Micron 7450 MAX.
Capacity QLC · <1 DWPD: Quad-level cell NAND maximises TB per U.2 slot at the cost of write endurance. Suited for AI/ML inference, archival, and cold-storage tiers. Example: Solidigm D5-P5336.
